Imperial Alpacas is a small farm located in Middlebury, Indiana. We began raising alpacas in the Spring of 2007 with the purchase of 5 females. Our goal is to improve the quality of fiber and conformation of each generation by selectively breeding our females with males that will serve to enhance their individual characteristics. We believe the foundation of raising superior quality alpacas begins with providing them with proper diet, herd management and an unlimited supply of TLC! We are members of Alpaca Owners & Breeders Association (AOBA) and Alpaca Registry, Inc. Our story

Terry was born and raised farming in the Lansing, Michigan area.  The oldest of 5 children, he was active in 4-H and FFA.  He has lived in Middlebury, Indiana for nearly 30 years.  Unlike Terry, Suzie grew up in the city limits and had no experience with farming or animals, other than a family pet.   On their first date, she told Terry she would never live out in the country.  A year later they married; Terry had 3 children and Suzie had 2, and together they raised all 5 children out in the country!  Now their children are grown and they have taken on a new 'family' to raise and care for-- the alpacas! 

The diversified backgrounds they bring to the table provides a great balance in the different areas of the alpaca lifestyle.  Terry enjoys taking the alpacas in the showring, maintaining the pastures and barns, while Suzie manages the clerical duties and works with the alpaca fiber.  The daily chores are shared and we feel it is such a privilege to care for these awesome alpacas.  Together, they enjoy the nurturing, cria watching, and everything surrounding the pure joy of owning and raising alpacas....  just living the ALPACA LIFESTYLE!
